La Llorona

La Llorona also known as the weeping woman, is said to wail for her children that she drowned in the river. Many different regions have different theories as to why and what actually happened but, this is the most known version. Her first wail was tracked in 1550 in Mexico City. 465 years later they built a statue of her wailing in Xochimilco, Mexico. There are also, 4 different regional versions. (Mexico, Guatemala, US, and Venezuela) There are films, plays, video games, shows, and songs that talk/sing or showcase the myth of the wailing woman.
